GEOGRAPHY
Francis Humphries Bicheno was appointed Vice Principal at Sir John Adamson in 1959 and was responsible for teaching Geography to the Senior classes until his retirement in December 1969. The call of education proved too strong and he remained at the school – despite suffering from leukemia – until his final retirement in 1975. He died in 1976 and was described as “a true friend and colleague .. who .. devoted his life to serving the school, his family, his country, and distinguishing himself in every sphere.” The Frank Bicheno Memorial Award was instituted by his wife.
